The well-kept secret of the Northern Alentejo, situated at an altitude of 750 metres in the heart of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park in Marvão, is the perfect choice for those seeking a peaceful retreat in a relaxed setting, surrounded by the lush greenery of a landscape brimming with nature and creativity. The owners, Maria Leal da Costa and José Manuel Coelho, have transformed the former farmstead into accommodation where every house is unique, not least because of the art that adorns them, the architecture that defines them and the natural surroundings that envelop them. The works that characterise them are created by the artist’s hands, whilst the architect’s hands shape their form, resulting in their true authenticity.
It is within the estate’s four hectares that the nine units are situated – comprising four studio flats, three one-bedroom flats, one three-bedroom flat and one loft – along with Maria’s exhibition gallery, the swimming pool offering panoramic views over the mountain slopes, the fish pond, the two lakes and the constant sightings of wildlife. It is in the most recent project, the Alentejo Sculpture Park – also situated on the estate – that the purpose of its existence becomes even clearer and more evident: to promote the region as a tourist destination, its local produce and the fundamental role of the arts.
